Netball Association of Maldives was formed in 1996. It was affiliated as a member of the Maldives Olympic Committee, Asian Federation of Netball Associations and as a member of IFNA in 1998.
Gone are the days when Netball was hardly understood, in the early 1960s, when it was first introduced to the only girl's school in Maldives. The growing popularity since then has been very encouraging with Netball Association of Maldives hiring coaches from Sri Lanka to develop and promote the sport.
Recently, NAM has participated in regional events and it has been enormously beneficial to young players to improve their standards by interacting with players from other Asian countries.
Since the formation of NAM, a lot of progress has been made in playing a prominent role in promoting Netball, played by women in the Maldives.
