would have responsibility for the protection, promotion and development of the Commonwealth Games brand, fostering key relationships with core stakeholders including but not limited to Organising Committees & Bid Committees of Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games, Commonwealth Games Associations and International Sports Federations.
The role will report directly to the Operations Director, working alongside other colleagues and as required supporting the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Board and managing external contractors.
The role will be based primarily in the Commonwealth Games Federation’s London office and when necessary in an overseas capacity during the Games and for other events.
As a minimum, the successful candidate would need to have a strong sports marketing or event management background and possess a wide range of personal & interpersonal skills and excellent IT skills.
It would be preferable that the post holder be a Commonwealth citizen and must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
In addition the following are required:
HND or degree, preferably in management/marketing;
Minimum of 5 years marketing and/major events experience, preferably in the international or multi-sports event sector;
The ability to demonstrate specific and relevant project management experience
Knowledge of the structure and workings of an Organising Committee & International Federations;
Ability to work to timelines, under pressure and to budget;
Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to people from all levels & nations;
Database development & maintenance skills;
Proven decision making abilities;
Proven analytical skills;
Proven contract negotiation and management experience;
Knowledge of the Commonwealth & Commonwealth Games movement; and
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Duties include the delivery of key projects and services in line with agreed objectives, to budget and within set timeframes. Activities would include, but not be limited to:
Development and delivery of a marketing strategy to promote and protect the use of the Commonwealth Games brand and values;
Generation and maintenance of content of CGF website and extranet site;
Management of website hosting and other design and print agencies;
Development and maintenance of centralised contact database;
Represent the CGF on Commonwealth Games Joint Marketing Committees;
Liaison with Commonwealth Games Associations, Organising Committees International Federations and other partner agencies on relevant projects;
Management of the CGF Secretariat at a Commonwealth Games, Commonwealth Youth Games, Chef de Missions Seminar and annual General Assembly;
Co-ordination of exhibitions and hospitality at key international events including, but not limited to, Sport Accord Convention and Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting;
Manage contractual relationship with Media Consultant and support this role through the generation of ideas for news items; and
Management of contracts as directed.
Miscellaneous
The normal working week is 35 hours i.e., 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday inclusive with an hour for lunch normally scheduled between 12 noon and 2pm. However, the duties of the post may require work to an unspecified number of irregular and unsociable hours in excess of the basic figure, including evening and week-end work and travel overseas. The position will not be paid overtime for any additional hours worked but the CGF may at its discretion award time in lieu.
